Privacy Policy — Basecamp Collective

This policy explains what information Basecamp Collective (an initiative by Himflix) collects when you use this website, why we collect it, how it's stored, and what rights you have over it. If anything here is unclear, write to us at hello@himflix.in and we'll explain plainly.

1. What We Collect

What we collect depends on which part of the site you use:

Writing Lab: your name, email, phone, location, story details (title, genre, logline, synopsis, and similar), an optional pitch recording or link, and — if your submission proceeds to payment — your payment is processed directly by Razorpay, our payment partner. We do not see or store your card or bank details.
Film Submission: your name, email, phone, location, role, film details, and a private screener link. This is a free submission — no payment is involved.
Join the Crew: your name, email, phone, native place and current location, the departments and roles you work in, experience level, languages spoken, links to your portfolio or social profiles, and — if you choose to provide them — a profile photo and resume.
General browsing: standard analytics information (such as which pages are visited) via Meta Pixel and, where enabled, Google Analytics. See Section 5 on Cookies & Tracking.

2. Why We Collect It

We use the information you submit to:

Review your submission or profile and get in touch with you about it.
Send you confirmation and status-update emails related to what you submitted.
Process payment where a submission fee applies (Writing Lab only).
Understand, in aggregate, how people use the site, so we can improve it.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

3. Where It's Stored

Submissions are stored in a private Google Sheet, and any uploaded files (resumes, photos, pitch recordings) are stored in a private Google Drive folder. Both are accessible only to authorised Basecamp Collective / Himflix team members, who sign in individually with their own Google account and are assigned specific access levels (view-only, edit, or admin) by us.

We do not use any third-party database or storage provider beyond Google's infrastructure and Razorpay for payments.

4. Who Can See Your Information

Your submission is visible only to the Basecamp Collective / Himflix team members responsible for reviewing that category of submission (Writing Lab, Film Submission, or Crew). We do not make submitter information public, and profiles submitted through Join the Crew are never publicly searchable — they're used only to match you internally with relevant productions.

5. Cookies & Tracking

This site uses the Meta Pixel to understand how people arrive at and use the site, and to measure the effectiveness of any advertising we run. Some pages may also use Google Analytics for the same purpose. Both may set cookies in your browser. You can control or block these through your browser's privacy settings at any time; doing so will not affect your ability to submit a script, film, or crew profile.

6. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain submissions for as long as they may reasonably be useful — for example, Crew profiles remain in our network so we can reach out about future opportunities, unless you ask us to delete your information sooner (see Section 8).

7. Payments

Writing Lab submissions currently require a non-refundable processing fee, handled entirely through Razorpay. Razorpay has its own privacy and security practices as a licensed payment processor; we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, along with a transaction reference — never your full card or bank details.

8. Your Rights

You can ask us at any time to:

Tell you what information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information.
Delete your information, except where we're required to keep records of a completed payment.

To do any of this, write to hello@himflix.in from the same email address you used to submit, and we'll act on it promptly.

9. Children's Privacy

Basecamp Collective is intended for use by adults working in or connected to the film industry. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will remove it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top.
